Learn English with Lights Out - a vocabulary building game that has been downloaded over 20 million times! This post is a review of Lights Out, an award-winning app that helps you learn English vocabulary. In the game, players try to turn off as many lights as possible in 30 seconds. The player can use all letters from A-Z and numbers from 0-9. Sometimes the player is provided with clues as to which letters or numbers are correct, but often there are no hints given. Only after the player has successfully used all of the letter and numbers provided, will they be notified if they are correct or incorrect. The game uses an adaptive algorithm which adapts to the player's progress so that later on, there are fewer clues to help them. If players are not successful in turning off the lights in 30 seconds, their lights are turned back on. Players have a total of three chances. If players fail on the second try, their lights will remain off for good, but if they manage to turn off all of their lights on their third try, then they get a bonus point! Once all of the lights have been turned off, then another round begins where there is no time limit. As before, players can use all of the letters from A-Z and numbers from 0-9. If a player does not use all of their letters or numbers, then they will be notified if they actually used the correct letter or number. Some players feel that Lights Out is a fun and educational game that can be used as a learning tool for English learners. However, many others do not agree. They feel that this app's adaptive algorithm is highly flawed because it takes no notice of any mistakes made by the player such as spelling mistakes such as "s" for "f". They feel that considering Lights Out as a learning tool is ineffective and time-consuming. Korean: 라이트존 (미국어) Japanese: ライトアウト (英語) - Score: ↓/100 = # of correct answers on that level.
